Public Lecture on ‘Modern India in German Archives 1706-1989: Launch of the MIDA Research Portal’ and Book Launch (by registration only) followed by a workshop on ‘India-Germany entanglements: New avenues in the German archival landscape’, (by invitation only) 21-22 March 2024

This workshop brings together five scholars, who have actively contributed to MIDA’s research, to present on a spectrum of topics related to modern Indian history and (India-Germany) entangled histories. The key objective of the workshop is to foreground the relevance and potential of sources from German archives when researching topics in modern Indian history and histories of transnational entanglement. Covering a time frame from the 1689 up to the end of the Cold War in 1989-90, the workshop will underpin how modern Indian history and histories of entanglement, ranging over three centuries, stand to gain from an exploration of German archival sources.
